Foster to Adopt

Whew! What a whirlwind. We've been going nonstop to prepare for the arrival of our little one. In order to bring her directly home from the hospital, Wade and I have to become certified foster parents...which means another mountain of paperwork, CPR/First Aid and coursework. Since we just learned of these new requirements yesterday, I stayed up 'til 2:00am to complete everything--and used up an entire pen in the process! After a private CPR/BFA class on Monday, we'll be on our way to certification!

One week ago, my "To Do" list was two pages long. Now I'm down to five more tasks:
1. Find a stroller that holds a newborn and a 45 pound preschooler.
2. Get diapers and formula.
3. Purchase a special gift for the birthmother, Dana.
4. Locate and install base for car seat.
5. Meet with attorney on Tuesday.

Hopefully we'll feel completely ready by the middle of next week. And God willing, everything will go smoothly. Praying for healthy and safe development and delivery!

Congratulations Ramona! What an exciting time for you and your family. I wish you the best over the next few weeks in preparing for the arrival. Do you know what sex the baby is?

Congratulations! Sooo very exciting. I don't have any first hand experience, but I've heard good things about the "Sit and Stand" Stroller.

We are so thrilled for your family! What an answer to many fervant prayers from our Faithful Heavenly Father!

By the way, though I really like my Graco double stroller I think 45 lbs might be close to the limit for the front seat. Amy has a sit and stand stroller - you might want to ask her how she likes it. May not the best "containment" stroller, but it might have a longer life for Liliana than a double stroller would.

Anyway, thanking God with you and praying you'll get all your to-do list items completed! I'm sure you will :-).
Love,
Rachel

Ramona,
I have a Graco carseat, the entire thing, base and all. We bought it before Natalie was born, so it's over 5 years old. And it's been through 4 kids: Natalie, Lauren, Emma, and Seth (Nathan had a different one). Anyway, if you want another carseat and a base, or just a base, feel free!

I also have a Snap-n-Go stroller, but it's sole purpose is to stroll an infant seat. It doesn't have any extra places for a toddler, but it's super light and handy for when you only need to push the baby around. Hope used it at church every week for Emma and Seth.

Let me know. So excited for you guys!!

Love,
Lori
